Back in the Good Books

Yay!!! Spyke is back in the good books!! We had adult ride tonight over at the pony club grounds where he has been EXTREMELY difficult the last two times we were there and he was really good. I was very nervous as his behaviour over there is the worst I have ever seen from him. I didn't give him any time to think tonight I just got on and joined the JUMPING.....yes JUMPING group straight away. In a lot of ways I really wanted to ease him in with a dressage evening before jumping but Lisa Coupe is only going to be at adult ride twice so I didn't want to miss out. Spyke was a bit on edge to start with and did tend to tank towards the gate home but he still listened to me (mostly) and we managed to complete the lesson. We even jumped a really "big" jump (read 90cm-ish but it was an ascending oxer) and he jumped it bee-oooo-tifully!!!! He really basculed over it. One day soon I will have pikkies again I hope. :-) I must I must I must work on getting my shoulders back!!!

I have taken his grazing muzzle off tonight as a) I made him a deal that if he behaved at club I would take it off and b) I don't think he has actually figured out how to eat with it so I think the poor boy is quite hungry. :-( I will see how he goes back on the grass and if he is a noddy then I will just have to strip graze them.
